THE PROPERTY TAX CALENDAR

Jan. 1 - All property within a given county is appraised as of this date.

Jan. 31 - Property taxes are due based on the previous year's certified value & jurisdiction tax rates.

Feb. 1 - Property taxes are delinquent and begin to accrue penalty and interest if unpaid.

April 1 - Target date for the notices of value to be sent out for the current year.

April 15 - Business Personal Property rendition deadline. Extensions available to May 15 and May 30.

April 30 - Exemption applications are due. 30 day extension may be available on case by case basis. 

May 1 - Protest hearing season begins, at times before the deadline if filed early.

May 15 - Regular deadline to file protests on accounts that have been noticed for at least 30 days.

May-Aug. - Informal meetings and formal Appraisal Review Board hearings are conducted.

Oct. 1 - Target date for tax assessors to start mailing tax statements due Jan. 31.

Dec. 31 - Last day to pay property taxes for current year deduction of federal income taxes.
